Orientation

“Attach yourself to what is spiritually superior, regardless of what other people think or do. Hold to your true aspirations no matter what is going on around you.”
                  Epictetus

Philosophy brings orientation

Practical Philosophy teaches us how to direct and orient our life in a way that is true for us, that is in accordance with our inner being and that is noble and dignified.

As we learn how not to get caught up in living a life which does not truly belong to us, our life will be more in accordance with who we truly are. Philosophy allows us to open our eyes, to really observe our actions, motivations, likes and dislikes.

As we become more and more aware of what is truly real and what is superficial, needs and desires in our lives change. They become more and more authentic, natural and useful.

The ability to discern properly and the power to make better choices will grow as well as the wisdom to follow intelligence, the voice of our innermost self, rather than just intellect or instinct.

Epictetus (A.D. 55-135) dedicated his life
to outlining the simple path to happiness, fulfillment, and tranquility.
