Science or Spirituality?

Both science and spirituality are the search for truth. One searches for the truths of the physical world, the other for the truths of the nature of consciousness. As such there is no conflict. But for the same reason, there is little meeting between the two.

Western science has looked beyond the edges of the Universe and deep into the sub-atomic structures of matter but has not has not included in its scope the inner realms of mind.

It has enabled mankind to develop technology to control and manipulate the world to free humankind from unnecessary suffering but has also produced untold hardship to many.

Spirituality focuses on inner and subjective matters such as beauty, compassion, respect, harmony, awe, joy, love and the celebration of life. However, holding unexamined spiritual beliefs contradicted by the empirical evidence, logic and experience imprisons the holders in fundamentalist caves that limit their spiritual growth.

“When it comes to understanding the universe, science and spirituality are describing two complementary aspects of reality: one, the nature of the material world we observe around us, the other, the nature of the mind observing this world. When we realize that these understandings can be applied to the betterment of humanity, we see that science and spirituality are really complementary.

To create a truly sustainable world, we need both: the knowledge of science integrated with the wisdom of spirituality.”

This is an integration that we urgently need.
